STAY AT HOME ORDER

Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each State.
No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile.

Once Gov. Walz issued his “Stay at Home” order, it was illegal for Minnesotans to leave their home. Gov. Walz decided when you may leave your home and for what purpose. Minnesotans were under house arrest, and any willful violation would result in punishment.

The Governor stated “Limiting activities to only those which are most essential and practicing social distancing at all times are vital tools required to mitigate the community spread of COVID-19 in Minnesota and nationwide”. Gov. Walz was now deciding not just which employee or business was essential, but also which activities were most essential in your life. (Executive Order 20-20, March 25, 2020)

“Beginning on … March 27, 2020 … all persons currently living within the State of Minnesota are ordered to stay at home or in their place of residence except to engage in the Activities and Critical Sector work set forth below …” (Executive Order, 20-20, March 25, 2020)

“I urge all Minnesotans to voluntarily comply with this Executive Order … a person who willfully violates this Executive Order is guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction must be punished by a fine not to exceed $1,000 or by imprisonment for not more than 90 days”
